Metabolism is a myth
Authored by: Wol on Sunday, July 01 2012 @ 09:36 AM EDT
Yes, truly.

As far as I am aware, all studies have shown that resting energy burn is
proportional to weight, and that's about it. Studies like watching people sleep
and measuring their energy consumption by weighing them and using infrared
monitors etc.

What IS striking, however, is that people who claim "high metabolism"
actually fidget a lot. They have a high level of unconscious background
movement.

If however, your nervous system doesn't work properly and makes movement
difficult, well, you see where I'm going ...

Cheers,
Wol
