Which distribution and browser?
Authored by: Ian Al on Monday, July 02 2012 @ 11:55 AM EDT
I'm using Debian and Midori. Midori is horribly slow on some sites including
the Raspberry Pi forum. I gave up using the raspi and used the nettop to
register.

Groklaw is very useable. This is from the raspi. I think sites using javascript

extensively are the worst offenders.

There are comments about using the Broadcom video chip to do more of
the xwindow support. They are expecting response to be much better when
that is done. Mind you, I don't find the command line particularly fast, so I
think the processor is modest in performance, as well.

I have used the Arch Linux image, but it does not seem to have xwindow and
uses vi as the text editor. You have to do things like update system
variables to make ls work in colour. I'm just a gui guy at heart.

I cannot seem to get the Qtonpi to go, yet, but I won't give up.

I bought a big book on TkInter, but the Raspi seems to use Squeeze. Looks
like I need another visit to Amazon!
