I think that the mobo I am using now just requires you to go into the bios
where you can load the new image from usb
However, if I have a
secure/restricted boot machine how do I load linux to flash the bios if I can't
disable secure boot? The problem is that extra hurdles are being added even to
boot a live distro. If there is a pressing need to mount a live cd etc on
someone elses machine and you flash there bios there is a large chance that you
will be responsible, from that time forward, for every problem they ever
experience on that machine. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

And the article you linked to definitely is
not for a newbie. And how often do you flash
the firmware anyway?
I am curious if anyone has found a UEFI firmware
for a PC that does *NOT* require Windows to flash.
Note I am specifically talking about UEFI here,
not old BIOS.
