In the UK it is also possible for a judge to reverse the usual order of payments
of costs. I read about at least one such example in my parents' (now very old)
copy of The Reader's Digest Family Guide To The Law.
I forget the facts of
the case, but one example in the book had the judge award sixpence in damages to
the plaintiff, but costs of something like £50 (then still a lot of money) to
the defendant. The rationale was that the plaintiff was in the right according
to the letter of the law, but totally in the wrong in moral terms. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
