What a pity
Authored by: Chromatix on Friday, July 06 2012 @ 10:01 PM EDT
I ran into an ex-colleague who still uses a Nokia E70 - a Symbian model with a full keyboard - and likes it so much that he asked me whether I'd sell him mine if his ever breaks. Since I don't use my E70 much any more, I said there was a possibility. I noticed that his keypad buttons were almost completely scratched blank.

Apparently it straddles the line between "feature phone" and "smartphone" very neatly for him, which makes sense since it wasn't quite enough of a smartphone for me. So now I carry around an iPhone and an ancient Nokia 3310 - the latter for emergencies, since the iPhone's battery runs flat more quickly.

As for the Lumia series, by all accounts the hardware is great, the software is surprisingly good, but there's no real app ecosystem (mobile app developers are already happy and busy with Android and iOS) - and I get the distinct impression that ordinary people are now waking up to the fact that Windows is something you use because you have to, not because you want to.

My previous phone was a Nokia C3 a couple of weeks ago the touch screen failed,
for the second time in as many months. I now have a Samson Mini.

I would however like to thank Nokia, without their hardware failing I wouldn't
have discovered how good Android is.
