IE is still deeply integrated, but, as for your point of things breaking along
the way of deintegrating IE. It's Windows! One of the truest constants of
Windows is that things are constantly breaking along the way.
Thinking back, this was one of my biggest shocks after switching to FOSS. The
knowlegeable and the wise do advise new users to stick with 'stable' and leave
'current' to the experienced users. Since I was starting with a fresh, clean
install, I decided to see what the deal was with current. After all, rewiping
the hard drive and installing a stable version would be no biggie. I was
absolutely flabbergasted by 'current!' Never, ever had I experienced anything
so unbroken. It was positively mind-blowing. 'Stable' might be better for
enterprise and the nervous, but I'll take a current distro over XP any freaking
day![ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
