The onus is not on me
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, July 18 2012 @ 11:25 PM EDT
There is too much tribalism going on here. I am choosing to not get so involved
in it.

I don't owe anyone here an education. I don't have any responsibility to prove
that some erroneous belief is wrong. No doubt some people already know the
truth. Hopefully some people figured it out. Some people will just stubbornly
refuse to acknowledge the truth. (Many people won't even be aware of this
conversation.) The onus is not on me to fix any of that. I couldn't fix
stubbornness even if it were my responsibility.

The truism, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it
drink," applies. I already provided one example. Some people tried to
discount it rather than consider it. I could list another example. The same
thing would happen. I could keep giving examples. The same thing would just keep
on happening. Some people would rather argue than learn. I can't do anything
about that and it's not my responsibility.

If someone didn't know, but really wanted to know the truth, they would have
probably used Google and evaluated what they saw themselves or figured it out
some other way. Some people already figured it out. Neither group would need me
to hold their hands. To say that it is necessary for me to do so would be to
insult most people (and it wouldn't be my responsibility, anyway).
