I have been using the experimental Raspbian release for some time. Now, I have
moved on to the official release and it does make the thing surprisingly
responsive.
I have enjoyed adding new icons to the menu with mtpaint and installing synaptic
for the installation of new programs and upgrades. Abiword works well. I am
using wifi via a USB Ralink device.
Browsing is still slow on the fairly full-fat Midori. On the other hand, the
Dillo go-kart positively belts around, although it has no bells and whistles
like frames (!) or flash. It might be fun to watch the individual frames on
UTube, but this is no laptop replacement.
At the moment I am gazing at a bag of ribbon cable and 26-way headers and
wondering when I am going to get around to playing with the GPIO and Python.
Still, there are lawns to mow, hedges to trim and a blown-up washer/drier to
replace.
