Again, they don't explain the terms. For all we
know, it's a cross license where the Amdocs people
get paid to do this.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Hmm, nice looking servers there. Wouldn't it be a shame if something were to
happen to them.....[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Just playing devil's advocate for a moment, but my first thought was that being
any company's sales rep is a tough job. You're always being pushed to
meet overly optimistic sales goals that increase every year.
It's probably
convenient to 'hint' that Linux 'might' use some unspecified patented Microsoft
technology. As another anonymous poster said, "nice looking servers there.

happen to them...."
Of course
the sales manager at best turns a blind eye to the hints (at worst encourages
them), since his job performance depends on his sales reps
performances.
And finally upper-management conveniently "can neither
confirm nor deny" etc, etc, etc.
I guess I'm saying there doesn't need to
be a grand top-down conspiracy when a bottom-up conspiracy works just as
well. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

It's a "cross licensing" deal. There's maybe one para. in there
says Amdocs can use any of MS' patents they want for their
Linux servers. Amdocs pays the cost of preparing the paperwork,
as a one-off, maybe not even up-front, payment. Maybe Amdocs
sees it has paid a bargain price for some of MS' IP.

Maybe my tinfoil hat is too tight, I see a bigger problem right there
than any petty badgering by MS over patents.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
