FAT might be ugly, but MS has made sure it's got market saturation.
EXT drivers for other OSes must be strong and silent, swift and secure.
Automatic download -from the phone- the first time it connects.
Fast transparent directory listing (folder opening). No generation of
unwanted artifacts. Reading your two linked stories confirms my

I'd settle for Android recognizing MY external drives
formatted in EXT3/EXT4. Since it's the Linux Kernel, this is
a simple recompile. Even worse, as near as I can tell, the
stock Android uses EXT3 as it's own base OS, but doesn't
recognize a USB drive formatted with EXT3/EXT4.
