Being colour blind doesn't mean that we see grey as a substitute.
I'm red/green colour blind. This makes it difficult for me to know what colour
I'm looking when looking at (mainly) reds, greens and browns (though it can also
affect me when looking at yellows and greys too).
I can see some shades of red and know that they are red.
I can see some shades of green and know that they are green.
I can see some shades of brown and know that they are brown.
But, there are reds and greens and browns which I often get a little confused
about and cannot say, with certainty, what colour they are.
It's not generally that annoying an affliction... the most annoying thing about
it is when I mistake a colour then my girlfriend then tests me... "So, what
colour is that then? And that? And what about this?" A few more
questions and then I'm getting annoyed.
Having a lazy eye and one eye longsighted and the other shortsighted compounds
the issue... "So, can you read that then? What about that? Is that
fuzzy?".
Sheesh!
