I note that Microsoft's new logo looks a lot like an Apple logo. Simple
graphic, simple modern grey colored text, white background. Maybe Apple can
sue them for copying the look and feel of Apple logos.

This is Microsoft reinventing themselves?
Yup, changing their logo will cure all their problems. Maybe they should have
changed their name, too. How about changing their product name from Windows to
Slides? </sarcasm>

Urmann is a German copyright troll law firm that represents hardcore
p0rnographers, sending shakedown notices to accused downloaders, threatening to
publicly link them with porn unless they pay "settlements" to make it all go
away.
They've revealed that the core of their strategy will be the
publication of accusations against police stations, churches and the embassies
of conservative Arab nations

...and underwhelming. How could an entire corporation
delude themselves so
thoroughly? The design on the Metro
interface and now this... It's like someone
on high there
(with no sense of taste) liked it, and he has surrounded
himself
with yes men who are eager to flatter him at every
opportunity by complementing
him on his refined sense of
taste. He is like the emperor with the new suite,
parading
himself before all the world, and no one around him dares to
come out
and tell what they think.
What I find most disgusting is all the
Microsoft press
speaking of the "gorgeous Metro design". They all use that
same word, "gorgeous", as if it was handed to them along
with
their kick
back. In fact the Metro design is quite the
opposite. A flat and uninspired
cacophony of clashing
colours. What's even worse is that Windows 8 shoves it in
your face. Nobody will be able to cover it up with some nice
wall paper.
Imagined being forced to look at that all day
long as you try to work. It'll
make you cross-eyed. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Samsung Opens New Apple Store in Australia
I noticed that the
tables have the patented rounded corners.
I also noticed the Samsung "smart
guys" in blue shirts.
Be sure to check out the

The teacher asked the little girl if she
knew any ancient South Korean proverbs of wisdom.
Little Girl: yes, and
said: "intellectualis proprietas pupillam est magnum sacculum canis
stercus".
Teacher: there is one problem with that.
Little Girl:
problem? There cannot be. It is a fact that is well known to be
true.
Teacher: yes, while the statement is indeed true, you should realize
that pupillam should be in the genitive case, not accusative.
Little Girl: I
see you are right as always. I guess translate.google.com is not always my
friend.

A federal court in Massachusetts today upheld a $675,000 damages
award against Joel Tenenbaum, who was accused of illegally downloading 31 songs
from a file-sharing Web site and distributing them and was sued by the main
recording companies in the U.S.
U.S. District Court Judge Rya W. Zobel
rejected Tenenbaum's request for a new jury trial, saying jurors had
appropriately considered the evidence of Tenenbaum's actions -- downloading and
distributing files for two years despite warnings -- and the harm to the
plaintiffs.

http://gizmodo.com/5937649/windows-8-tells-microsoft-about-everything-you-instal
l-not-very-securely?tag=windows-8
The big problem is
that Windows 8 is configured to immediately tell Microsoft about
every app you download and install. ..
It may be possible
to intercept SmartScreen's communications to Microsoft and thus learn about
every single application downloaded and installed by a target.
..
Update 2: Another researcher has
discovered that a filename of the app you're trying to install is indeed sent to Microsoft. This severely strengthens privacy
concerns. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
