The average person on the street does not understand what happened here. They
look at round-cornered rectangles and then see a patent and say "well, the
USPTO granted it, so it must be rocket scientist."
However, technical people do understand what happened here. Apple got the USPTO
to grant patents on stuff they never invented, then a jury decided that patents
cover ideas and not implementations, and Apple got a bunch of money. Apple is a
lying, decietful bully, that only won by virtue of their falsified patent
applications for stuff they never invented.
I for one will never buy anything from Apple ever again. A lot of people will
think twice before working with Apple for fear they will steal their ideas and
then turn around and sue them. And the jurors will pay more for their phones
for years to come.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

A very sad day for all, and a monstrous injustice.
I actually admire Apple's product very much, but wouldn't
dream of wasting my money on it when there are very
different and superior products from Samsung.
And after this, I feel a strong animosity towards Apple. I
wonder how many others feel that.
All credit to Apple's legal team, though, for their
brilliant sleight of hand. Shame they had to be working for
the
bad guys.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I am typing on a dying MacBook Pro. When it dies, I will buy a laptop from
System 76 and run Linux. I am ashamed to carry an Apple product. I am also
ashamed that I converted 4 people from Windows to Mac in the past few years. I
won't be doing that anymore. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
