As far as Groklaw is concerned, people can do
whatever they want, though. You gain cred if
you post with a nym, but anonymous is fine

Well, my posts are all signed with my full first name and initial for my
surname. No hiding behind anonymous for me.
However, I had once considered signing as "annoymouse". ;-)

If PJ really wants to know where an anonymous post comes from
(particularly amongst the long term anonymous lurkers), she can tie it back to
someone with a small amount of effort.
I for example post anonymously on Groklaw, but I don't hide myself from PJ. A
few minutes with grep/log files and I'd be very surprised if this post was not
tied to a particular email account.
