Because they want to distract people from the real issues.
Was this FISA
approved?
Or was it just Apple selling the info for a quick million or
more?
Or is this totally legal under Apple EULA?

Those questions did cross my mind, but I didn't think it worth uttering
them in public because this whole exercise is going to prove for us
once and for all how many iOS users can dance on the head of a pin.
Those of us who have been following these matters knew that this
information existed in tangible form, knew that the spooks would be
getting it by fair means or foul, and we knew that laptops are "lost"
all the time. Those of us who knew all this made sure that the loss
of this information would not impinge on our private lives.
Nothing to see here, but nobody is inclined to move along...
There should be only one question:
What Now?
