To the extent that FM thinks it unlikely that the verdict
can be overturned, I take heart. I know how likely it
is for him to be right on anything, other than predicting
there will be an appeal.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

This is comforting. This so called
"patent expert"had proven an
expertise at nothing. He had a good
record of predicting the opposite.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

That only applies if they decide to overrule the jury's
verdict, not toss it completely.
The jurors are not allowed to express their understanding of
the law beyond the way it is set out in the instructions.
Jurors are not allowed to act as their own expert witnesses,
introduce extraneous evidences, introduce extraneous law, or
outright make laws up. To do so is grounds for a mistrial.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

IANAL, but I expect to hear from Samsung before the appeal. An appeal can only
examine whether the verdict was clearly impossible. However that is not the case
here; the jury mis-acted, and that should be raised by a motion in the current
court. I do not think it can wait until the appeal.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
