It's in the public interest that fair use is upheld.
Only letting the stuff that big media wants you to see through the filters isn't
going to help anything.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

This could have all been avoided if the team handling Michelle
Obama's Speech would have either preferably sought different
music or personally sought permission from the content owners
directly behind viacom's back, prior to airing. But no
doubt... the EVIL of Viacom Strikes again as they also
disabled their content streams from Direct TV as well for
failing to come to a license agreement. Only after the
networks had at least gotten through the Convention at
Midnight.
YouTube had no choice but broadcast that message, then later
declare it a mistake prevent Viacom from again coming after
them and possibly the Democratic Convention. It's a sure sign
Viacom is a hardcore supporter of Romney and the Republican
Party. Due in part for their support of SOPA. As opposed to
Obama being ready to veto it!
So why didn't Michelle's handlers pick different music, not
owned by Viacom? Maybe at least sought permission prior to
airing. For that I'd say fire 'em.... they should've known
better. There is no more evil content owner on the planet than
Viacom and they have proved that time after time by issuing
many false takedowns on YouTube as well. When they didn't even
own the content in the first place. Companies like this should
be barred from abusing the DMCA so often.
Or.... Viacom needs to quit being so dragonian in asserting
their asinine claims in the first place. Google can't take any
chances with these nitwitted thugs in control this company.
The only thing that saved it was YouTube popping the screen up
that "This Video is Private". So that Viacom couldn't do
something against the President's Channel and Home Page. Which
no doubt.... Viacom would do in a heartbeat!
Viacom should just be DMCA'd off the face of the earth... I
say!!![ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
