"Darwin has laid a solid foundation, but it is not like science hasn't
advanced significantly beyond that foundation already."
And the conclusions is:
All living beings trace their ancestry to single cell ancestors living billions
of years ago. All evidence suggests that only a single cell might have been the
ancestor of all existing life on earth.
It seems "On the origin of species" got it right quite a number of
times.
However, the advice to read this old book is sound as it is still one of the
most readable accounts of evolution. It also gives a good historical account of
the struggles that were needed to come up with a theory that fits the facts.
