Oh... yeah Hynx the Jailbird Crew of 2006! Part of the
group that conspired with Infineon and Samsung to create a
Price Fixing Oligopoly, in an attempt to kill RDRAM. I
remember those guys. The group that wanted to milk Memory
prices for all they were worth. Luckily Rambus won that one
and the resulting competition helped lower prices to where
we can feasibly spend less than $30 for 8gigs DDR3 today!

I remember Nvidia after Rambus worked with IBM to custom
design the Broadband Memory Architecture on Cell. It
included FLexIO and FlexPhase that eliminate need for
traces. Rambus designed the Incredible Multi-layer Ringbus
Architecture that enabled PS3 to escape any bottlenecks
between memory<CELL>GPU w/ memory on same substrate (first
ever). XDR Memory running same speed as CPU? How novel and
revolutionary and that'sThe design was so great Nvidia
decided to steal it.

Your good buddies at Hynix attempted and succeeded in
killing Rambus's deal with Intel over putting RDRAM to use.
So your telling us along with a Smuck Tabloid (Inquirer)
that because Rambus is a fabless chip designer like Nvidia
and ARM, that they're somehow crooks because want to be
paid for having spent Billions in Memory R&D no one else
was willing to pay and all they wanted to do meter out
changes to make the most off the R&D dollars they weren't
spending!

I'm telling you that if it wasn't for Rambus we'd still be
using DDR1 or 2 and it'd cost a fortune at that. We
wouldn't have the ARM A15 about to come on market and
shatter the record books on not just ARM mobile devices
(w/Rambus Terabyte Initiative), but challenge Intel in the
Server World as well. Nvidia and Rambus worked their
differences out and now Rambus is helping them on Tegra 3
and 4. ARM w/ Rambus are why Intel should be very very
worried.

Even Samsung and Rambus (thanks to lawsuit) got their
teamwork going now too. Will the sanction hold for Hynix
and how much will it save them? Few million, but Rambus
will never co-operate with them or Elpida again. That's if
Elpida makes it w/o going completely out of business.
Samsung teaming Rambus is why Exynos will be top the mobile
and server industry chip. They could even challenge Intel
eventually!

This was a whole industry attempting to kill it's own
brains... and because Payola Media is so judgemental about
Rambus's First Full Design House to push Fabricators into
new innovations and designs, people like you react as if
they are somehow patent trolls.

Trolls Don't Design or Spend Billions on R&D to Advance
Technology like Rambus has done. They buy it and sit on it
like a toll road. There is no comparison between Rambus and
a Patent Troll. Unless you want to brand Nvidia, ARM, and
now AMD all going to Fabless design houses as Trolls too.
While even IBM is headed that way as well now. So are these
all Trolls or is only Rambus? Because they started the
whole migration of Technology Innovation & Design going
fabless. Now the Fabs can concentrate on what they do best,
as long as they don't try to kill innovation like they were
trying to do with Rambus! ;-) [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
