And to think that just last week I told my financial advisers that if they ever
invested my money in Apple that they would be fired (Oracle, Microsoft, and Sony
as well), and proceeded to spend the next 15 minutes explaining why I felt so
strongly about it. Well, I don't think I can take any of the credit for this
current course of events, but I can dream can't I?

To remember:
Apple Inc. Act I - Jobs to sell, Woz to do.
Apple Inc. Act II - Marketing Ahoy - NeXT to the mountains
Apple Inc. Act III - The Clones (and winding) road down
Apple Inc. Act IV - Down from the mountains going up
Are we witnessing
Apple Inc. Act V - The Marketing Revenge
It would be an interesting finale.

The best analogy I've been able to come up with is that Apple is like a big
rocket. The first few stages worked beautifully and propelled the company into
the stratosphere.
But the last stage failed to separate properly and the next stage has not yet
ignited. Apple is still moving upward quickly, but if they cannot ignite the
next stage, they will slow down and then plummet to earth.
If you wish to invest in Apple, either long or short, you must take into account
the momentum and the lack of anything holding it up.
You also don't want to short the stock until the momentum is about to peter out.
Of course with iPhone5 not doing as well as hoped, that may have already
happened. You also have to watch out to make sure that Apple doesn't find a way
to ignite the next stage. You wouldn't want to be caught short when this
happens, or long if it doesn't.
For the record, my finance people sold my shares in Apple a long time ago. I
won't short the stock since I'm not confident in timing the top.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
