What science?

Do you infer that believers are ignorant apathetic people.
No, creationists are. According to them, the bible has been written down by humans, the world has been created by God. They claim to trust the former (usually exhibiting an appalling unknowledge of its details, cherry-picking the stuff they choose to hear) in order to avoid reading the latter. They ask the education system to stop looking at the details of God's creation.

For a believer, knowledge is not an enemy. A believer does not need to fear the results of learning and studying. How many of those "creationists" learn Greek and Hebrew in order to spend the time they save on natural history on acquiring the tools to study the words of the Holy Bible in their original tongue?

This is not about belief in God's word. It is about an excuse to wallow in ignorance.
