Funny question for a guy from Iowa to ask. Except that we
have a lot of
Czech polka bands around here that use
accordions.
Anyway, a friend of mine
got inspired to make a
documentary
about
zydeco music during a visit to Louisiana. Five years
later, he is wrapping up the project, and has launched a
Kickstarter campaign to help pay for the
final editing and post-lock
procedures. They have all the
incentives to donate different
amounts.
Besides the
website and
Kickstarter page, here's a Youtube link to
the film trailer.
I find any ethnic
music fascinating. I think that Tom, my
friend, has done a great job in
capturing a lifestyle as
well as a style of music. So I thought that I would
share
this with the Groklaw crowd, since we seem to have someone
in every
category of taste. Drop on by and take a look.
Maybe
it will appeal to
you.

Another article over
at TechDirt about some
companies who have teamed up to finally do something
about
patent bullies. Specifically, they are calling them out for
breaking the
law themselves. Pull up a chair and your
favorite movie snacks. This should be
a good one!
Well, it seems that the effort to stop these
lawsuits has been taken to the next level. Cisco, Motorola
and Netgear have
now filed an amended complaint which rips
Innovatio apart, and doesn't just
seek a declaratory
judgment of non-infringement, but outlines a parade of
lawbreaking by Innovatio, arguing that it's actually
involved in racketeering
and conspiracy among other things.
How do you like them
apples?

"A newly-granted Microsoft patent for Variable Formatting of Cells covers the
use of 'variable formatting for cells in computer spreadsheets, tables, and
other documents', such as using the spectrum from a first color to a second
color to represent the values in or associated with each cell. Which is really
not a heck of a lot different from how Baron Pierre Charles Dupin created what's
believed to be the first choropleth map way back in 1826" link [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Rep. Mike

the FUD to get
CISPA back on the legislative calendar.
