"Harm the software industry?" You know? I think they've got their
bases covered. We've all noticed this obscene push for "software as a
service" and "cloud computing" and while there are certainly
other motivations behind these pushes (which are ultimately vendor/customer
lock-in) they just may have come to realize that the days of software patents
are numbered and that their compiled binaries aren't protection enough from
competition.
If there is truth or justice in the justice system, then the truth about the
nature of software will result in justice for those who are patent inhibited in
the industry.
When the software business was young, especially in the PC market, everyone was
allowed to play. Now, no one can play. What the hell happened? We know what
happened and it needs to be corrected.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
