Makes sense to me. I can see three "variations on a theme".
1) It's my property. I have the right to say who can and cannot see/use/whatever
my property.
2) I've leased the property. Car/house/whatever, I am paying for the personal
use of that property, but the owner has some rights, mostly to make sure that
I'm not abusing the property.
3) Property provided for my use on behalf of others. It's not my property, and
it is not provided for my personal use. Presumably it has all sorts of stuff
belonging to the owner on it, and why shouldn't they have the right to inspect
it?
(Actually, there's a fourth category, my property which I use on behalf of
someone else. For example, when I provide my own car for use on company
business, but imho that's pretty much the same as number 1)
Cheers,
