Rest assured that many of them are. Wet dreams
are made of this if you are an old school
business and want to stay relevant.
When the world changes around them, they
try to stop it from happening instead of
changing their ways. It's funny, really,
because one of the most over-hyped business
books of our time (and I use the term
"book" very loosely, it's really little more
than a pamphlet inflated by repetition and
a feeble attempt at a cutesy side story about
two mice) is "Who moved my cheese?", and
this is the exact mindset that book tells
you is bad for your business. Execs everywhere
tell their mid-level managers to read it,
and yet so many big dinosaurs make that very
mistake on a grand scale.
Now, *don't* go out and buy that book. It's
terrible, honestly. You can summarize it
in two sentences: "When the world around you
moves, it is unwise for you to stubbornly
stay put no matter what. It will only work
for a while, and then you will have a hard
time catching up."
