But if anyone wishes to prosecute the patent, they must be able to show the
court the model - in this case, the actual rocket engine.
I believe courts do sometimes take excursions to "see the sights".

But the rocket industrys method is to not patent anything that isn't public
knowledge already pretty much. The reason is that there are currently two
competitors who are seriously advancing space technology, spacex and China. I
somehow doubt China will respect spacex's patents, and I doubt almost as much
that US courts would make a company partially funded by the US goverment, run
inside the US, follow China's patents. So patenting things turns into telling
your competitor what you invented... and gaining nothing in return.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
