The problem isn't in the technical realm as far as I'm concerned, I truly think
linux is the best product out there. The problem is in the legal realm. Android
could be effectively destroyed by lawsuits from Apple, Microsoft, and company's
like them, setting linux back to step one.
On a slightly offtopic note, I think your right in the sense that this isn't
what Linus envisioned when he started linux, but seriusly who could have
envisioned smart phones 20 years ago. It also probably isn't his ideal scenario
even now, but I suspect he thinks it could have, and could still get, a lot
worse.
On a slightly different slightly offtopic note, you mention trying to bring
andriod back to the PC, I would argue not, smart phones are so different then
PC's and laptops that trying to use the same operating system on both just
doesn't make sense, as I suspect microsoft will find out pretty soon. The open
source community should just continue developing the PC operating systems the
same way they have been for ages, it seems as if the compettitors are losing
interest in this market to me (see the offtopic comment on microsoft and
enterprise users) so linux should be getting a signifigant advantage in this
area anyways (in my oppinion).[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
