If you look at what customers get for their money in Asia and Europe you'll get

There's a problem here. With increasing automation fewer jobs are available.
The ones that are require more training.
So... A high unemployment is to be expected, *AND* the jobs available require
extensive education. This is global. Jobs are being lost to robots in China.
It is independent of the political system...except that the political systems
tend to require that you have a job to survive. This leads to increased unrest
and desperation.
So, yes, the Telecoms are gouging their customers. This is only a small part of
the problem. (And management doesn't want the stockholders to know either.)
If those making the decisions aren't real careful, this could erupt into
violence. (Which may be part of why police departments are acquiring drones.)[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
