Check out Apple's website. The apology is written clearly, legibly, in big print, and unadulterated.

Stunning.

Apple vs Google in Wisconsin may be canceled
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, November 03 2012 @ 12:07 PM EDT
According to FM Judge Crabbe's late Friday order contains the
court's reaction to Apple's ultimatum of the royalty rate
needing to be less than $1 per device or they'll take their
chances in court. Since they are already taking their chances in
court, the Judge feels like they shouldn't waste the courts
resources with a trial Apple will just ignore if it doesn't suit
them.

See, it is bad advice to give a court an ultimatum...

EFF calling for help with Oracle Google API copyrightability appeal
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, November 03 2012 @ 01:16 PM EDT
Techcrunch

I believe this may fall within the expertise and interests of many here. Perhaps an article linking to the EFF request might be helpful, with guidelines on how to effectively put the arguments.

Oracle's appeal could -if successful- be catastrophic for the software industry, purely to line Larry Ellison's pockets for his next "buy to sue" campaign.

Dotcom Not Sitting Still

He now thinks he can provide (almost) free broadband to
New Zealand citizens by reviving the Pacific Fibre project.
He might have to change the eastern terminal.

Windows 8 - How does this new interface help?
Authored by: cassini2006 on Saturday, November 03 2012 @ 08:40 PM EDT

I was at the computer store today. The Apple section was packed. The new Windows 8 display was up, and the computers were empty, so I went to experiment. The new computers are either being sold without touch screens, or the touch screens don't work.

In any case, I tried out the new start screen. It appears to scroll from side to side, it is necessary to hit the edge of the screen with the correct mouse velocity. Too fast or too slow, and the computer would misinterpret my mouse move. Does anyone know why Microsoft would do this?

Does anyone have any insight into why Microsoft thinks the new UI is better? How does it help on the usability?
