Hmmm, interesting detail that suggests Google may do well in the future.
Most Android devices are low-end, and are perceived by their users as purchases
with a limited life span. That reduces the motivation to buy content,
especially expensive applications and music.
But it doesn't remove the motivation for in-app purchases, which typically don't
come with the expectation of persistent value.
If Google gets a slice of the in-app purchases, the Google Play store might
become much more lucrative than anyone outside of Google expected.
My expectation is that in-app purchases will also make users much more
comfortable with buy additional content through the Play store, resulting in
per-user revenue converging with Apple's app store over time.
