How hard can it possibly be in the year 2012 to design a reliable Voting Machine???

"but isen't this supposed to be the "greatest democracy on
earth"? "

Nope, it's the best government money can buy. Has been for a long time now.

The problem was giving them the power to change the voting procedure, so they
can set things up to favour themselves.

Basically, if you thought Software had issues with "the boys club"
attitude, politics is much, much worse.

Guys, be real. We are in the geek side of the
room, most of us. Surely we of all people should
be telling people that there is no way for anything
digital to be 100% secure.

Paper ballots might take longer, but they work,
and they leave a paper trail, so while they can
be cheated with in other ways, it's hard to steal
a lot of votes. With digital, it's a snap.
