Mainly for practical reasons I avoid installing it. *All* of
their software was so bad it was practically unusable on
windows years back (not sure they bothered much with Linux,
there seems to be no safari fortunately.)
I have no idea if they improved things but I'm not prepared
to risk it. I used to have a theory that all their software
for other platforms was malware designed to help in the
platform wars because the reliability and performance was so
bad (Safari, QuickTime, iTunes etc)
These days there are other reasons for disgust when dealing
with their software, just as I feel disgust when having to
get a JDK from oracle (no, the openJDK stuff doesn't work
well for what I need)[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

If I recall correctly, the USPTO patent images are TIFF format, for which there
are various browser plug-ins. Years ago, I used alternatif with Netscape and
Linux.
