I'm pretty sure Wacom have some important IP with/for stylus
technology, given they are basically own the desktop
commercial and professional design sector (IIRC they have
some patents to do with stylus with
no batteries.) I wonder if they might get involved.
To be fair, I think the Apple Newton had a stylus back in
about 1830 (joke), but n doubt the technology was different
(it works now, well enough to be used for professional
design input)
As for the Steve Jobs quote, it was full of it. Clearly
there are some applications where a stylus is massively
superior to finger input. Charitably one might read it as
"If you need to use a stylus for basic UI interactions on a
handheld device, they blew it", but Jobs was the master of
the oversimplified sound byte for the thinking impaired /
lazy, and was a loss to politics.
