Dunno about Dixons being despised. I agree that they're mostly clueless droids.
And they seem to have less and less to hold my interest :-(
Shame. My Dad worked for Dixons years ago. One of my valued possessions (which
was stolen quite a while ago :-( was the camera he was given as a leaving gift.
But to give you an idea of how long ago that was, when he worked for them they
had only the one shop, in Station Road Edgware (last I looked, it was still
there ...). You should be able to work out roughly when that was from the
Wikipedia page ...
Cheers,

Dixons have had a poor reputation for decades which makes it even more
remarkable that he took a compamy with a bad reputation on the verge of
bankrupcy, in a rapdily shrinking market (high street electronics) and turned it
around to profit making and secure. It is Comet not Dixons that just went bust.
I am not sure what more you could ask and as a business leader i think that
gives him a very well desrved reputation.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I recently had to take my Nexus 7 back to Currys due to a fault with the
touchscreen. The 'droid' as you call him knew all about the problem, as he was
himself interested in buying one, and had been reading up on all the issues on
xda developers before taking the plunge. He was quite excited to see the
infamous touchscreen fault in person, and I had no problem getting a refund.
Their prices are a bit over the odds compared to online-only retailers, but that
is to be expected, and generally only applies if you just wander in off the
street. If you use the collect and reserve, or google "currys codes"
and use those on their website, you can usually get things for the same price as
online, and even cheaper in some cases.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
