Wow - those are pretty serious problems! Didn't these
poor suckers realize
they were signing up to be Beta Testers
for Microsoft?
There are 5
serious issues reported so far...
- 1.) The keyboard starts peeling
and revealing its
internal wiring.
- 2.) Audio randomly mutes and
unmutes - expected to be
somehow also a keyboard problem.
- 3.)
Streaming audio stutters and dies when the screen
goes to sleep.
- 4.)
Logo wears off the device within a day or so of use.
- 5.) People can't
get the VPN connectability they were
led to expect.
Just one
sample of an irate beta tester
Surface
buyer...
Nothing, absolutely nothing, fixes this audio
issue once the screen is powered off. Microsoft, how in
blazes did this get
past you if you really spent 3 years
testing this device? Honestly, I'm a
massive fan but
something as blatantly bad as XBOX Music is something that
even I cannot excuse. I've installed all updates, refreshed
and restored my
Surface multiple times, and still my audio
acts like a box of Rice Krispies
every time that screen goes
off. Not to mention that XBOX music feels
hopelessly slow
when navigating. These audio issues are grating for me, and
I
demand at least some feedback on behalf of all of us who
are going nuts as to
whether this issue is being fixed,
and/or what is causing it.
I've
spent near $1,000 on mine (64gb, Cyan cover, Type
cover) and while the
device in general is quite good, these
issues with the audio performance of
this device completely
outweigh all benefits. Seriously. I know I'm being a
little
pigheaded right now, but I am truly upset that something
like this was
allowed to go on sale with such a glaring
issue. Took me 4 hours at home to
stumble across this issue;
how did you not find it in all of your "quality
testing"? If
this is a fault on the software side, we'd like some word as
to a
fix that you will surely be working on, and if this is
a failure of the Tegra
3, you might as well declare it
early. I'm writing this on my laptop, and
Surface is
hiccuping through my playlist like it's drunk.
This is
terrible, and I want some answers for why
something like this was not caught
and fixed.
