Actually they can, but is is a separate process from an appeal.

new, created just 27 years ago with the Judicial Conduct and Disability Act of
1980. The act authorized punishment for misconduct that did not rise to the
level of impeachable offense. It allowed each circuit to establish its own
disciplinary rules, investigate alleged misconduct and impose sanctions up to
temporary suspension of a judge."
However making an honest error is not something that violates the Judicial
Cannons. The Judge would need to do something that does.
