Consider that we have had a two party system since somewhere
around Thomas Jefferson's Presidency. Before the
Republicans, it was the Whigs.
Sometimes, I despair of ever getting a political system that
represents the people instead of a party.
My plan is to start a new party called "The No Party" or
"The Independent Party", which will have no platform, and
strict limits on campaign spending. If people would only
quit voting for candidates who chase the money instead of
the vote, we might have a shot at fixing this thing. I'm not
holding my breath.
Parties have no basis in the Constitution, and have done a
power grab to the detriment of the country. Do you honestly
think that someone who has run attack ads will be able to
put them aside and work with the other side?

The UK has just had elections for "Polica & Crime
Commissioners".
The turnout was appalling.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
