So do you own and control you're own cell phone tower?
No, nor do I need to. I leave it to private enterprise to
provide that service without government interference.
Having worked in the insurance business vis safety standard
committees, 'human life' actually has a financial value. Overhead power
distribution is cheaper than European underground cables. So, more people die in
the US from downed transmission cables (from hurricanes etc.,)… but those
fatalities are economically acceptable – by 'your' legal standards. How does one
therefore quantify lose of life fromm bad communications? Your on a winning
argument there.
I qualify it by saying it is up to me to
have certain emergency supplies and plans in place. I have water, food,
gasoline, a generator, gas heaters, batteries, flashlights oil lamps, and
radios. I weigh what the cost of having this against the risk of certain
disasters happening just like I weigh the risk when I get in my car and drive to
go see a film or the risk when I buy a Chevy Corvair instead of a Volvo. If
someone is unprepared for a disaster, say tornadoes 'cause that is the danger
where I live, then yes, the deaths of those who die because they were not
prepared is acceptable.
So, do you or your neighbours (in a
emergency or any other time) have access to Gov.com. Do you have an Amateur
Radio licence (and a transceiver with USP). Have you ever been in a situation
where nothing works any more and you have no drinkable water or anything else to
preserve your existence?
I am unlikely to be in such a
situation, but I am as prepared as my budget allows. I don't think I and my
fellow citizens have the right via government mandate to impose requirements on
businesses in my community (in this case, cell phone providers). Government has
a place, but this is not it.
I don't like it when other
people embark on an ad hominem attack (in fact I leap to the victim's defence)
but in this case, I think you are a complete and utter -ignorant
twit.
I don't think you are a twit just because you have
been taken in by government-can-prevent-all-bad-things-happening-to-me fallacy.
Nor I am not surprised by your resorting to the ad hominem fallacy. It is what
people resort to when they cannot refute their opponent. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
