Microsoft has developed a new mobile-esque OS and modified it to fit their
desktop. One size fits all is an old MS concept (fixation may be a more
accurate term), they tried it with NT and only had marginal success. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

From what I have read, this statement is incorrect. They haven't modified it to
fit the desk top. They are litterally tring to force a mobile OS on the desktop
market.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Microsoft tried to do the same thing that Apple did, I.e. use the same base
for both platforms.
As to how they dd it, yes, they went about it differently, trying to make
mobile and desktop experiences the same. I suspect the next XBox will use
the same interface, which in my opinion was a mistake, because the
devices are so different that using the same interface doesn't make sense.
