Google Battles UN Internet Proposal,
Censorship
Google has come out swinging against a United Nations (UN)
led effort to decide the future of the open Internet at a December meeting of
the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a body run by the
UN.
Google’s website, at http://www.google.com/takeaction/, provides
detailed information about possible upcoming legislative changes at the
behind-closed-doors ITU meeting next month. The website features a video of
people around the world saying “a free and open web depends on me” in their
native language and requests the viewer to take action to “tell them
(governments) you support a free and open web.” [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Petraeus may have good reason to exchange 30 emails a day with his biographer,
but Allen and his
girlfriend? What they, and the mindless Twitosphere
slandering Lord McAlpine, didn't sufficiently
understand was that those
utterances are now preserved as if on the plinth of Shelley's
Ozymandias.

The problem? There was no evidence that McAlpine abused anyone, and
everyone--right down to individual tweeters--are now on the hook for libel
damages.

e-samsung-gets-to-view-apple-htc-settlement-details/
In a ruling
this evening, Judge Grewal said the court wouldn't let the two companies serve
up a heavily marked-up document because the only group to see it would be the
lawyers:
Many third parties to this case have had their licensing
agreements disclosed -- without any redaction of financial terms -- subject to
an Attorneys-Eyes-Only designation because the confidential financial terms were
clearly relevant to the dispute between Apple and Samsung. HTC is not entitled
to special treatment, especially when it has recognized the general sufficiency
of the protective order and the integrity of Samsung's outside counsel.
