For those don't know why the term Spam was adopted to describe this form of advertising...

Probably not a coincidence. If I were into the dirty business of spreading
misinformation, I would definitely make sure to flood targeted forums with
astroturfers, trolls, crazy people and spammers. The astroturfers create a false
impression of disagreement on the key issues, the trolls divert attention to
repeating the same stuff over and over, the nutjobs discredit the community and
the spam discredits the forum. Apparently, Gruoklaw is apparently worthy of a
full-blown attack. Congratulations, PJ! What you are doing here seems to be
working, or else you wouldn't see these attacks.
