I only buy Taiyo Yuden. They aren't that much more expensive. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Actually Red book is not very robust as far as error detection and correction
goes. The nature of PCM audio is such that you need to have a pretty big error
before you can hear it. Red book is optimized for play time. A 700 MB disc can
hold a tick over 80 minutes of 16 bit 44.1 K PCM audio. If you use a data format
disc and write your audio as a 16 bit 44.1 k .WAV file you will only be able to
store a little over 70 minutes worth of audio. A small amount of the difference
is from the .WAV file header but, most is from the overhead of the error
detection and correction code which is built into data format CD's. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
