I wish you well. But...the way I see it...there's three
groups.
(1) 'The Enlightened' - who see software as maths and
therefore non-patentable.
(2) 'The Honest Lawyers' - who see problems with the current
system and would like to fix it.
(3) 'Patent Trolls'
Given that current policy didn't evolve in a vacuum, there
is probably a rough balance of power between these three
groups - that won't change in the short-term.
I'm not counting you out...just...I'm guessing that pushing
the middle path of messy compromise is more likely to get
results within the next few decades. Maybe I'm wrong. But,
y'know, if group (1) and group (2) spend their time trying
to convert each other instead of reducing problems with the
current system...group (3) walks away smiling. Besides,
from the point of view of a lawmaker or a judge -
incremental change is less likely to have 'very bad'
effects.
