SAMBA and WINE are projects that are trying to ease peoples' process of leaving
windows behind.
As such, they are critically important projects, as they let people migrate
slowly, rather than all at once.
That said, I'd still prefer it if I didn't have reasons to use them.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

in the real world,
many of us do not have a choice but to coexist with Windows.
I work for a major corporation, so any Linux server that I build must interact
with AD and windows file print servers and in some cases Novel file servers.

In this case is not necessarily better than the devil we don't know.
My first reaction on reading this story was: How long before MS
deliberately break it with some stupid tweak to AD? Then the
more cheery thought occurred that maybe MS has more
serious things to think about just now.
