From the documentation:
Documents such as letters, diaries,
and reports
as well as audio and video files are excellent candidates
for a
Scripto project. It is not intended for materials
where columns and layout and
verisimilitude reproduction
shape meaning such as financial documents, charts,
or graphs
(although you may apply wiki markup to these materials to
format
transcription text).
It does look similar to Distributed
Proofreaders. I think
the objection was that Groklaw worked a little looser
than
either of these two projects would allow. A lot of work goes
on with a
single person working on a file, and little
collaboration. And it puts more
burden on PJ at the top to
use one of these things.
I was a promoter of DP
for use here at one time.
