Once I discovered midori and mizuiro I pretty much only used
aoi for blue-green.

I've *seen* a very interesting experiment into how language influences colour
perception. Some TV program about how we perceive colour...
The example I particularly remember was blues and greens, but iirc it applies to
other combinations as well. The experimenters took a bunch of different similar
shades, that some cultures classified into one colour, and other cultures
classified into two.
Sure enough, people from the "two colours" culture found it easy to
separate the shades. People from the "one colour" culture found it
nigh on impossible.
So the boundary between blue and green does seem to be language-dependent!
