It isn't my proposal that "we the people" should only have
access to old
technology, weapons or otherwise. Quite the
contrary. However it is not AFAIK
anything contemplated
other than in satire that nuclear weapons should be
available in the marketplace.
Whatever the rationalization, the simplistic
interpretation
of the Second Amendment that whoever wishes may "go armed"
with
whatever weapon they can obtain is not justified by an
emotional appeal to the
wisdom of the Founding Fathers.
Instead I favor a common sense approach:
weapons
availability appropriate to the purpose, whether hunting or
self-defense, and accountability that entails a loss of the
privilege to own
weapons, just as those who use vehicles
inappropriately lose their license to
drive.
