Tell that to all those Arab Spring uprising folks.
I would not want to remove the right of gun ownership, simply because the US
government is now so powerful, that a successful uprising by an oppressed
American public is far fetched. The idea at the time of a successful uprising by
American colonists against the British Empire was remote in its day. It was
actually due to several very fortunate events. Not the least of which the Crown
was already fighting a major war and grossly underestimated the risk in the
Colonies. Not to mention the American Colonists changed the face of warfare as
practised by the other civilized nations (hiding behind trees, and ambushing,
and shooting intentionally at the leaders - in short the Colonists were a bunch
of terrorists).[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
