my take...
M: Make a YouTube app for our phone!
G: Why?
M: So we can attract more buyers and make more money!
G: We thought about it. We did a cost analysis. You don't
have enough customers yet. It's not finanically beneficial
to us to promote your operating system and spend time
writing apps for your ecosystem. You only have ~5% market
share.
M: That's not fair to us! That must be anti-competitive
(that's our new catchphrase for Google, even though their
competition is just 'one click away')
G: Your users can still use the web-page-based YouTube.
M: ... I don't have a good argument for that. So, I'm not
going to acknowledge you said that.
G: k whatever. have fun with that.

Maybe Microsoft wants all YouTube content to be "SilverLight" to be
compatible?
Microsoft - Embrace, Extend, Extinguish,
...but, this time maybe they want Google to do it for them, only the FTC makes
them do it?

The articles I've read on it suggest MS tried to write there own app but because
they don't have access to the private API that Google's YouTube app uses it
isn't as good.Given the small market share WinPhone has I still think that
doesn't give them much of a case.
The more outrageous claim they are making though is that Google unfairly removed
ActiveSync support from GMail which makes integration with the WinPhone email
app worse. At the time Google dropped this support they made it quite clear that
the reason they were dropping it was that they had to pay license fees to MS to
provide it - if MS want Google to do something then trying to charge them to do
so seems like an "inadvisable" approach.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

What a joke! M$, supposedly the biggest and best software
company can't write a phone app! Must be in the wrong
business. Maybe M$ should make dogfood instead. Maybe
not. Although I do not have a dog, I think aminal abuse
is wrong.
Perhaps M$ stockholders will come to realize that M$ really
is incabable of producing new software products and move
on to better companies. May be 2013 will be the year of
M$'s demise. One can hope :-)
