Deciding to change the system is not the problem. Try actually changing it and
then you'll realise what the true problem is. You guys have painted yourself
into a corner and I don't see how you are going to get out of it.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

There are 300 million people in the US (give or take).
Of these millions, a tiny fraction, counted in thousands, will be aware of this
case.
Of this fraction, only a minority will care enough to actively try and make a
change while another larger fraction (the rights holders) will resist change.
This is not a case to make headlines or even get picked up by the broadcast
media, controlled as it is by rights holders.
This case may make some people aware of the consequences of the current legal
framework and as such serve a purpose beyond being a personal tragedy.
Other than that, the harsh and unfortunate reality is that Aaron Swartz's
untimely death will be nothing but collateral damage in a rigged system.
My heart goes out to his loved ones. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
